Delivering Safer Beaches in Australia for 10 Years

Since 2003, DHL has been sponsoring Surf Life Saving Australia (SLSA) and Surf Life Saving New Zealand (SLSNZ). To celebrate their 10-year partnership, DHL and Surf Life Saving have created a free outdoor photography exhibition which celebrates the individuals who make up such an important part of the community. See it live in Sydney December 6-8 or go for a virtual visit online.

On every Aussie and Kiwi beach you’ll find the well-known red and yellow flags marking safe swim zones, not to mention a team of Surf Life Saving (SLS) lifesavers in DHL-branded uniforms keeping watch over the swimmers, ever ready to spring into action.

One of the many success stories of the partnership is helping to establish consistent and impactful uniform branding nationwide across all clubs, which has made the lifeguards more visible and recognizable on the beaches

SLS has been sporting their DHL uniforms for ten years now and the two organizations decided it was a good time to celebrate. They’ve created a free outdoor photo exhibition honoring the individuals who make up such an important part of the community. The exhibition, on display in Sydney for three days December 6-8, features iconic original images of ten remarkable Surf Life Saving volunteers from around Australia, each with a unique story but all with a shared passion, commitment and dedication to Surf Life Saving and their roles as volunteers.

The images were shot on location around Australia by photographer, Brett Stevens, who drew his inspiration from the history and stories of each of the volunteers. From a generational story of nine family members on the Gold Coast, to a 76-year-old member who still competes today, a migrant from the Democratic Republic of Congo and DHL Surf Lifesaver of the Year 2011 and 2012, every image tells a unique and inspiring story.

Over the past 10 years, DHL has helped to deliver more than 400,000 uniforms to Surf Life Saver volunteers on beaches across Australia. Since 2003, over 13.5 million patrolling hours have assisted in keeping the over 100 million people who visit Australia’s beaches every year.

DHL is proud to support Surf Life Saving in delivering safer beaches; for the past 10 years and the years to come!
