Jasa Veremalua shines in Las Vegas sun

Fiji’s Jasa Veremalua outperformed the rest at the HSBC USA Sevens to win the DHL Impact Player of the Tournament.

Fiji's Jasa Veremalua shone bright in the Las Vegas sunshine, achieving some huge stats in front of sellout crowds across the three-day tournament. His performance earned him the DHL Impact Player of the Tournament.

Veremalua made some crucial breaks and tackles to help the Pacific islanders come back from 15-0 down to win a thrilling final.

The Fijian sensation made one heck of an impact on the tournament, with 18 tackles, 7 breaks, 21 carries and 9 offloads. He also scored a crucial try in the Cup semi-final against USA to secure his side a place in the final.

Against Australia in the Cup final, Veremalua made some crucial breaks and tackles to help the Pacific islanders come back from 15-0 down to win a thrilling final and notch up their second tournament win of the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series.  

Veremalua’s high number of carries and offloads demonstrated his true attacking potential -- all of which contributed to some stunning rugby in front of the packed out stands at the Sam Boyd Stadium.

Veremalua's performance earned him enough points to sneak into the top seven performers overall, with his teammate Savenaca Rawaca still leading the way with 102 carries, 18 more than second placed USA star Zack Test. South Africa's Seabelo Senatla was in fine fettle also in Las Vegas, putting him in third overall.

After “three glorious days in Las Vegas” (TV commentator Keith Quinn) the series move to Canada for Round 6 of the HSBC Sevens World Series, which kicks off in Vancouver on March 11.
