DHL Exported Heroes: Hakaan Yildirim
Hakaan Yildirim is one of Turkey's best known and loved designers, dressing many of the country's celebrities and darlings. With a popular flagship store in Galata, Yildirim drew a lot of attention locally but to expand his brand, knew he needed to break into the European market.
In 2014, Yildirim got the chance with his H by Hakaan label, one of four labels chosen for the inaugural DHL Exported Program, a collaboration between IMG Fashion and DHL aimed at helping established local brands in branching out abroad. Chosen for the London market, the H by Hakaan label was shown at London Fashion Week for two consecutive seasons, with the Autumn/Winter 2015 line catching a lot of media attention -- all-important for expansion in a new market.
