Formula 1®

As Official Logistics Partner of Formula 1, DHL draws on over 35 years’ experience handling complex, time-critical, international motorsports logistics.

In the countdown to each race, we criss-cross the globe enabling not only the delivery of the precious cars themselves but thousands of litres of fuel and oil as well as essential event equipment and infrastructure. The Formula 1 freight travels by land, sea and air, filling no less than six Boeing 747 cargo planes for each so called “fly-away” race outside of Europe, where most of the teams are still based.

MotoGP™

With MotoGP™, DHL added the oldest motorsports world championship to the prestigious list of high-octane motorsports partners.

Each season, MotoGP™ covers around 90,000 km in just nine months – requiring perfect logistical execution to make sure “the race before the race” runs seamlessly and on time. As the Official Logistics Partner, DHL ships some 350 tons of MotoGP freight from circuit to circuit by sea, land and air. Ranging from the largest single item, the BMW M2 safety car, to a whole panoply of fragile TV broadcasting equipment and the race bikes themselves, four 747 cargo aircraft are chock-full once the 150 containers are loaded.

FIA WTCC

In 2010, DHL became Official Logistics Partner of the World Touring Car Championship. Precise planning, fast decision making and reliable delivery are vital and from the start the series’ organizers reached out to DHL to manage the ‘race behind the race’.

Throughout the year, DHL works closely with WTCC, devising a tightly organized logistics calendar. Details are planned a year in advance to ensure that both the cars themselves and the teams’ extensive equipment and infrastructure can all arrive in the right place at the right time, in immaculate condition.

FIA WEC

Recognizing DHL’s longstanding experience and expertise in the area of motorsports logistics, FIA WEC appointed DHL exclusive Logistics Partner shortly after the series was launched in 2012.

WEC is now one of the fastest growing global motorsports, attracting more than 133 million fans. In 2017 the event calendar features nine races in countries including Britain, Bahrain, Germany, Japan, Shanghai and the USA. DHL teams are made up of highly skilled and dedicated professionals who feel passionate about playing their own part in every thrilling event. Whilst the drivers may be battling it out on the track, DHL and WEC’s own experts work together in the paddocks and behind the scenes to ensure that every detail is perfect and that everything runs impeccably.

Red Bull Air Race

DHL is the Official Logistics Partner of the Red Bull Air Race World Championship and is managing the transportation of the lightweight racing planes, spare parts, fuel and other racing equipment as well as the television and broadcasting equipment around the world for this global race series.

DHL taps its intelligent logistics expertise to support the Red Bull Air Race organizers, using appropriate transport modes – including ocean, air and road freight – in order to ensure on-time delivery in the most environmentally friendly way.

Fashion Week

DHL has been a committed partner to the fashion industry for decades, pioneering tailored solutions to meet the needs of fashion designers and retailers, as well as behind the scenes at some of the world’s most glamorous fashion events.

A Fashion Show may only be lasting for 17 minutes, but those minutes can make or break a label. By providing logistics support to designers both established and emerging, DHL ensures that Fashion Week events worldwide go off without a hitch.

Gewandhausorchester

DHL is the official logistics partner of the world-famous Gewandhausorchester since 2009. The collaboration with the Leipzig-based orchestra initially began in 2005.

The Gewandhausorchester likes to travel. In the last century, the Leipzig-based musicians have played more than 2000 concerts outside their home town. With touring schedules encompassing performances in Europe, Asia, and the US, the importance of safely transporting the instruments and equipment cannot be underestimated. Whether it be via temperature controlled transport or a tight turnaround, DHL is always on hand to make sure the ensemble musicians hit every high note, even while thousands of miles from home.

FC Bayern

With more than a quarter of a million Fan Club members, FC Bayern’s global fan audience is ever-increasing and so it is little surprise that they have chosen DHL as their international logistics and full-service e-commerce partner since 2014.

Bringing international expertise and renowned efficiency, DHL plays a significant role in the club’s daily life, from transporting team equipment for away games, training camps and summer tours to ensuring FC Bayern München merchandise is reliably delivered to its followers around the world.
