The Grand Tour

The Grand Tour is on the Road

While motorsports fans are buckling up for the long-awaited launch of the new Amazon Prime Video series, Clarkson, Hammond, and May are already hoping around the globe to film the first episodes on location. DHL is helping them get there.

Fasten your seatbelts! The Grand Tour has hit the road. Yes, one of the year’s most eagerly-anticipated shows doesn’t premier on Amazon Prime Video until November 18, but for hosts Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May, the maiden voyage has already begun as they trek across the globe to film on location on several continents. After setting up camp in July near Johannesburg, South Africa, to film one of the show’s first episodes, the famous trio just deserted southern California desert after filming there.

Well, we've been busy and there's every chance our homework will be ready for 18 Nov. We're excited. Hope you are.

Pedal to the metal
Clarkson, Hammond and May have their eyes peeled on an aggressive schedule as they speed to the season premiere and beyond. After South Africa and the United States, this packed production will be setting down at 10 more locations around the world, raising their titanic tent studio, filming the episode in front of a live studio audience, and then high-tailing it out of there faster than Clarkson can put together a DHL parcel box.

That’s right, The Grand Tour comes with a grand tent – a huge black marquee that sports the show’s logo and takes two to three days to put up. Hammond revealed it on Twitter in July. As the trio and their “skeleton crew” – as Clarkson joked – hops around the globe pitching their tent, we’re making sure it and over 40 tons of studio and camera equipment is ready to go when and where they need it. It’s a logistics challenge we relish just as much as our hosts savor a high-speed track in one of the latest hybrid hypercars.

Some of you out there are going to be among the lucky few to see the inside of the studio with your own eyes. At each location, The Grand Tour will be inviting fans to be part of the live studio audience. Follow @thegrandtour on Twitter so you don’t miss your chance to win an invitation.

Inside the tent
Being behind the scenes on such an epic tour has been anything but dull – and as huge motorsports fans who are trackside at so many major events across the globe we can honestly say that everyone is in for one heck of a ride. But that’s about all we can say. Mums the word as our partners at The Grand Tour keep the details under wraps. But rest assured that our famous trio will be unwrapping the prize piece by piece – so be sure to keep your eyes on @thegrandtour

One bit we’re excited – and allowed – to reveal is that we’ll have the opportunity to showcase our own innovative vehicles at each of the filming locations. So stay tuned for that.

And don’t forget: The Grand Tour premiers on Amazon Prime Video on November 18. A new episode of will air every Friday for 12 weeks. The series is currently set to run three seasons.
