“It’s just magic”

Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs’ brilliant moves in the 1999 FA Cup semi-final reply against Arsenal wins DHL’s Legendary Dribbles

It was truly a Legendary Moment. And a moment made possible by one of Manchester United’s living legends. Now the team’s assistant manager, Ryan Giggs played 24 years – his entire professional career – for the Reds.

Watch the video here to relive Giggs’ Legendary Dribble  and hear what United players and staff have to say about what makes a dirbble legendary.

A legend both on and off the pitch, United’s long-time left winger made 963 appearances for United from 1990 to 2014, scoring 168 goals along the way. Giggs is the most decorated player in football history, winning 13 Premier League, 4 FA Cup, 3 League Cup, and 2 Champions League titles, among others.

Now he can add another title: DHL #LegendaryDribbles.

When you see them do what they do, it’s just magic. Magic is probably the best way to describe it.

The Legendary Dribble
Following an uncharacteristic error by Viera, Ryan Giggs picked up the ball inside his own half. From there, he steamed down the middle of the field, taking on four Arsenal defenders, beating each one and moving fans further off their seats. No one could stop him and from just outside the 6-yard box he unleashed a shot into the top right corner. Reds’ fans erupt!

The moment was not only legendary, so was the setting. An FA Cup-Semi Final replay. Extra-time. United down to ten men. Gigg’s Legendary Dribble led to the game-winning goal that catapulted United to the FA Cup final. It was as good a goal as anyone could wish to see – especially since the Reds were fighting for their lives. Treble-chasing Manchester United’s dreams were still alive. Gigg’s performance not only goes down in Manchester United history but also as an FA Cup classic sure to stand for all time.

“When you see them do what they do, it’s just magic,” says former United player, Quinton Fortune, who made 67 appearances for Manchester United from 1999 to 2006. “Magic is probably the best way to describe it.”
