New circuit in Berlin: Successful premiere
The German ePrix has now been hosted twice by the capital city. This year, the event moved from Berlin Tempelhof to the city center - more specifically to Berlin Mitte. The race on Karl-Marx-Allee and Straussberger Platz, including a spectacular view of the TV tower, was a great success - and not only in terms of packed grandstands.
The most innovative racing series in the world once again managed to configure a street circuit in the heart of a major metropolis. "This was just what Formula E needed," said an approving Daniel Abt (ABT Schaeffler Audi Sport) who was allowed to post an extra lap. "The track at Tempelhof Airport was perhaps technically more demanding, but this one wound its way through the city, in close proximity to the fans, which was much more in keeping with the concept behind the series."

Abt mania: Local favorite in the spotlight
Daniel Abt has never before experienced such a successful weekend, nor one that was quite as hectic. He was undoubtedly the star of the Berlin ePrix, so it is not surprising that Abt summed up his home ePrix with the following words: "This was the best race of my career! The whole day here in Berlin has been outstanding for me!"
But let's start at the beginning... Abt began his Berlin week with a visit to the DHL Hub in Leipzig where he was given a tour of a jumbo cockpit (including sitting at the controls), before later meeting one of his favorite football stars trackside, Bayern Munich's Holger Badstuber.
The former Deutsche Post Speed Academy protégé rounded off this whirl of engagements with the greatest success of his Formula E career, finishing second at the Berlin ePrix. He celebrated his achievement with team-mate Lucas Di Grassi, who finished third and now goes into the season finale in London as championship leader.

Premiere of the StreetScooter: Electrifying and innovative
It was not just the electric power of the Formula E racing cars that impressed during the Berlin ePrix. As part of the drivers' parade, DHL (Official Logistics Partner of Formula E) presented one of its most innovative projects, the Deutsche Post DHL StreetScooter, heralding the imminent introduction of these yellow electric delivery vehicles in Berlin. The StreetScooter was developed as a joint innovations project with the RWTH Aachen University especially for postal deliveries and has been in use there since mid-2013. The vans have a range of up to 100 kilometers and are powered exclusively by a Li-ion battery with a capacity of 20.4 kWh.
