Fully charged for season 3: ABT Schaeffler Audi Sport

On your marks! The third season of the FIA Formula E Championship gets underway on October 9 in Hong Kong. ABT Schaeffler Audi Sport is looking forward to to racing for the championship title as part of the 10 team line-up.

Targeting gold

Having secured ten podium finishes and claimed the runner-up spot in the championship, the team based around Daniel Abt and Lucas di Grassi can look back on a highly successful second iteration of the series. “After a bronze and a silver medal, the only one that’s missing from my collection is gold,” says di Grassi, making it clear what the target is for their third campaign. A determination that team boss Hans-Jürgen Abt admires: “Wherever ABT compete, we always have the same target: we aim to win races and be contenders for the title. We managed to do that in the first two seasons. Whether we’re capable of a repeat this time round will only become apparent in Hong Kong.”

Lucas di Grassi

ABT Schaeffler Audi Sport are well prepared for the season opener in Hong Kong. They completed almost 4,000 kilometers of testing in the run-up to the season and also subjected the evolution of the Schaeffler powertrain in the ABT Schaeffler FE02 to an endurance test. “We are well set up,” says di Grassi with conviction. Daniel Abt, who made three podium appearances in the previous campaign: “However, we won’t know until Hong Kong where we really stand relative to the opposition. But we already know that we have a good and reliable car and a strong team – that makes me optimistic for the start.”

Hans-Jürgen Abt concurs: “We have done our homework and prepared ourselves as best we can. The cars have already arrived in Hong Kong, and our engineers, mechanics and drivers just can’t wait for the start of the first race. It’s great to be in action again.”

Perfect partnership

Right from the start, the German team have been supported by partner Deutsche Post. “Our involvement makes good sense for a lot of reasons,” says Jürgen Gerdes, Member of the Board at Deutsche Post. “As the first racing series for electric vehicles, Formula E is a perfect fit for our commitment to innovation and underscores our policy of environmental responsibility, which is reflected in our GoGreen initiative. At the same time, Formula E gives our brands a high profile in markets that are of great interest to us. Team ABT and Daniel Abt are already known to us from other contexts as successful and professional partners. We are pleased that we can all play a prominent role in this series.”
