Formula E

Formula E and DHL

DELIVERING SUSTAINABLE INNOVATION. FAST.

Formula E is a ground-breaking FIA single-seater championship and the world's first fully-electric racing series. The championship sees ten teams, each with two drivers, racing on temporary city-centre circuits around the world to create a unique and exciting race series designed to appeal to a new generation of motorsport fans.

In 2015, FIA Formula E became the first world championship ever to be awarded the Achievement of Excellence, the top award in the FIA Institute's Sustainability Program, for its high degree of commitment to the environment and its impressive drive towards sustainability.

DHL provides Formula E with a wide range of logistic services which include the most efficient and greenest technologies and processes currently available in order to guarantee that all the racing equipment arrives safely and on time at each of the race venues, while covering more than 50,000 kilometers.

DHL is a pioneer in green logistics - our role as Official Logistics Partner and a Founding Partner of Formula E represents the continuation of the company’s concerted drive toward a sustainable future. DHL is committed to the same vision as Formula E – a thriving future unlocking the potential of innovations in e-mobility and city logistics. Built on our shared values of clean energy, mobility and sustainability, we aim to help our partner shine a spotlight on electrical energy innovations and the future of sustainable mobility.

To ensure that Formula E logistics are sustainable, DHL ships by sea or rail whenever the schedule permits, reducing the championship's carbon dioxide emissions. Shipping requirements for the championship amount to about 450 tons per race, which equates to more than 25 freight containers to each location. Alongside the racing cars, DHL ships equipment including about 200 tires, 20 charging units and 45 batteries to the races.
