Connecting the FC Bayern Global Family with DHL
What do all the members of the global FC Bayern Munich family have in common? A love of Germany’s most successful soccer club, of course! We could feel this first-hand as we reached out to fans around the world for their best FC Bayern selfies – in the end, there were over 13,000 participants from 141 countries. Amazing!
Now, we’re in the midst of connecting all those fans around the world with a special, unmistakable DHL package. Inside, there’s one of FC Bayern’s new home jerseys, a camera, and a pen. Each person who receives the package wins a spot in the upcoming FC Bayern Global Family movie, and gets to add their signature to the jersey. In the end, the jersey will have signatures from all over the world – and a few FC Bayern super-star autographs as well!
Around the world with DHL and FCB
The jersey and the DHL package have had quite a journey so far. The first stop was in Dublin to meet Ian, one of the fans who sent in a selfie. Ian’s love for FC Bayern is hard to miss – he’s got a tattoo of the team’s logo!
His tattoo may be on his arm, but Bayern is close to his heart as well.
I found the love of my life during a FC Bayern match and now we watch every single game together.
FCB Fan Ian, Dublin
After Dublin, the package traveled to Berlin where we met Dunja. With the German capital hosting the DFB Cup final every year since 1985, trips to Berlin for matches are a fairly regular occurrence for FC Bayern! But it’s a match she watched while living in New York that stands out in her mind the most:
“The 2013 Champions League final,” said Dunja. “I watched the game in a small German restaurant full of Dortmund and FC Bayern fans.”
We remember that one well, too: FC Bayern beat their domestic rivals to secure the team’s first treble of League, Cup, and Champions League titles. A historic match!
Rare territory
FC Bayern have only played one competitive match (during the 1973/74 season) against a Hungarian team, but that doesn’t stop Szabolcs, who lives in Budapest, from being a huge fan. It’s a passion he shares with his family – last season he and his brother gave their father an amazing gift of tickets to a match at the Allianz Arena in Munich.
Szabolcs said the match – a 5-1 win against Dortmund – was unforgettable.
The most recent destination for the special DHL package with the FC Bayern jersey was Marrakesh in Morocco. FC Bayern Munich have only played in Morocco once as well, but it was a huge success as the team beat Morocco’s top club, Raja de Casablanca, in the final of the FIFA Club World Cup.
After filming his role in the FC Bayern Global Family movie, Abderrahim said he felt pretty lucky to get a new jersey of his favorite team so quickly after it was released. Glad DHL could help, Abderrahim!
A global family
It’s been a blast delivering the package to each new member of the Global FC Bayern Family. Just like FC Bayern has fans in every corner of the world, DHL is also on the ground making deliveries just like this one in 220 countries and territories (after receiving so many selfies, we’re pretty sure there are FC Bayern fans in all of them)!
We’ve met fans in four cities already, but the journey continues for the DHL package containing the very special FC Bayern jersey. You’ll have to stay tuned to InMotion to find out where we’re headed next, but here’s a hint about our next destination – the city is gearing up to host the Olympics in just a few weeks!
