DHL Exported Cycle Two: Anne Sofie Madsen in Tokyo

Danish designer Anne Sofie Madsen will be taking her unique womenswear to the runways of Tokyo in 2016, thanks to DHL Exported.

Thanks to the DHL Exported program, four unique designers will be taking a global leap in 2016 as they expand their labels into a new-to-them market abroad. With heaps of talent and a strong business plan to support that expansion, these highly-motivated designers have gained both the logistical backing and expert support from the program, a collaboration between DHL and IMG Fashion in its second year.

Danish designer Anne Sofie Madsen caught the attention of DHL Denmark years ago shortly after she launched her eponymous label. As a local supporter of the Copenhagen Fashion Week SS12 collections in 2011, DHL worked with Madsen to ensure her premiere went off without a hitch.

The support continued as Anne Sofie Madsen won award after award, including Vauxhall's "One to Watch" and Denmark's prestigious Dansk Design Award in 2013. As her name grew, her unusual womenswear designs caught on and she moved further afield, showing at Paris Fashion Week in both seasons in 2015.

A real artist, Madsen's designs are highly creative, with intricate detailing and a contemporary touch that is sure to go over well with Japan's trendsetters when the collection appears at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Tokyo AW2016 in March.
