DHL Exported Cycle 2 Winners Speak

“New York I'm coming!” Marcel Ostertag told reporters at a meet-and-greet announcing his position as one of four designers to gain the backing of DHL as they expand abroad through the DHL Exported Program.

Seated alongside the Canadian design wunderkind Sid Neigum, Ostertag discussed the necessity of having DHL's team of export experts on his side as he takes his brand from studios in Munich and Berlin to the runways of New York.

“New York has long been a dream of mine,” said Ostertag, and through the DHL Exported Program, the designer will now be showing at two consecutive seasons of New York Fashion Week.

For Sid Neigum, whose casualwear has long been a staple on Canada's style stage, that dream meant expanding his brand into the U.K.'s white hot market for streetwear. With slots scheduled for next year at London Fashion Week for Autumn/Winter 2016 and Spring/Summer 2017, the designer will (like his fellow DHL Exported Program Cycle Two winners) be getting support from both DHL and IMG Fashion as they move their brands abroad to increase both growth and exposure.

“The goal is 400% growth,” joked Neigum, acknowledging that such extreme expansion plans are only possible with the right partners on their side.

In the winners' circle with Ostertag and Neigum are Danish designer Anne Sofie Madsen who will show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Tokyo and Atsushi Nakashima who will be at Milan Fashion Week in 2016.
